Short Stay Unit (SSU)

Is an area designated and resourced location within the Emergency Medicine Department that provides ongoing observation and management for patients who require further emergency care/treatment after obtaining a diagnosis, yet do not warrant inpatient admission to a ward.
This service was established in 2011.
