Disaster management and Emergency Preparedness
 
 
Course Description:

The American College of Surgeons’ (ACS) DMEP course is a one-day course that is both didactic and interactive. It addresses core competencies as outlined by The American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma, Disaster and Mass Casualty Subcommittee.
Target Audience:
The intended audience include care providers (surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, ER, OR, ICU, Trauma nurses, House officer’s prehospital professionals). Other health care providers, administrators, public health personal and emergency managers are also encouraged to attend.

Objective:

  • Understand the surgical problem and injury patterns that may result from disasters.
  • Become familiar with the incident command.
  • Understand disastry triage.
  • Become familiar with treatment principle, related to blast injury, chemical and radiological dispersal devices.
  • Know the civilian and military assets for support.

Registration:

The application form with two passport size photographs to be sent by the concerned authorized head of department to the ATLS office. Individuals fulfilling the criteria taking the course at their own expense are also welcome to register.
